Artist Biography
MercyMe is a contemporary Christian music band formed in 1994 in Greenville, Texas. The band consists of lead vocalist Bart Millard, guitarists Michael Scheuchzer and Barry Graul, pianist Jim Bryson, bassist Nathan Cochran, and drummer Robby Shaffer. Known for their heartfelt lyrics and powerful melodies, MercyMe quickly rose to fame in the Christian music scene with their debut album, "Almost There," released in 2001. One of their most famous songs, "I Can Only Imagine," became a crossover hit and brought mainstream success to the band. The song was inspired by lead singer Bart Millard's personal journey and relationship with his father.
