10,000 Maniacs is an American alternative rock band formed in 1981 in Jamestown, New York. The band gained prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s with their blend of folk rock, pop, and jangle pop sound. The original members included lead vocalist Natalie Merchant, guitarist Robert Buck, keyboardist Dennis Drew, bassist Steven Gustafson, and drummer Jerome Augustyniak.
