Artist Biography
Montgomery Gentry was a country music duo formed in 1999 by Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry. Eddie Montgomery, born in Kentucky, provided the duo with his gritty vocals and energetic stage presence, while Troy Gentry, hailing from Kentucky as well, contributed his smooth vocals and guitar skills. Together, they became known for their blend of country rock and honky-tonk sound. The duo released numerous hit singles throughout their career, including "My Town," "Something to Be Proud Of," and "Gone." They were recognized for their high-energy live performances and heartfelt lyrics that resonated with their fans. Montgomery Gentry won several awards, including the CMA Duo of the Year in 2000 and 2001. Tragically, Troy Gentry passed away in a helicopter crash in 2017, bringing an end to the duo. Despite this loss, Montgomery Gentry's music continues to be celebrated by country music fans around the world for its authenticity and emotional depth.
