Conway Twitty, born Harold Lloyd Jenkins on September 1, 1933, in Friars Point, Mississippi, was an American country music singer and songwriter. In the late 1960s, Twitty transitioned to country music and became one of the genre's most successful artists. Known for his smooth vocals and heartfelt delivery, Twitty scored numerous chart-topping hits throughout his career, including "Hello Darlin'," "Tight Fittin' Jeans," and "I'd Love to Lay You Down." He also collaborated with fellow country star Loretta Lynn on a series of successful duets. He was a member of the Grand Ole Opry and the Country Music Hall of Fame, solidifying his legacy as a country music icon.
