About Give Up The Ghost

Give Up The Ghost, originally known as American Nightmare, is a hardcore punk band formed in 1999 in Boston, Massachusetts. The group was founded by vocalist Wes Eisold, who was also a member of other influential bands like Some Girls and Cold Cave. Give Up The Ghost is known for its intense sound that merges elements of hardcore punk with emotional and introspective lyrics, often exploring themes of personal struggle and societal issues. The band released their debut EP, "Background Music," in 2000, which quickly garnered attention within the underground music scene. Their full-length album, "We're Down Til We're Underground," was released in 2003 and solidified their reputation as a pioneering force in the hardcore genre. The band's raw energy and powerful performances earned them a dedicated fan base. After a brief hiatus, Give Up The Ghost disbanded in 2004, leaving behind a legacy that continues to influence contemporary punk and hardcore bands. The members have since pursued various musical projects, but the impact of Give Up The Ghost remains significant in the punk rock community.
