Artist Biography
INXS was an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1977. The band's original lineup consisted of Garry Gary Beers on bass guitar, brothers Andrew Farriss on keyboards and guitar, Jon Farriss on drums, Tim Farriss on lead guitar, and Kirk Pengilly on guitar and saxophone. Michael Hutchence joined as the lead vocalist and lyricist a year later, giving the band their signature sound. INXS achieved worldwide fame in the 1980s and 1990s with their catchy pop-rock hits and electrifying live performances. Some of their most well-known songs include "Need You Tonight," "New Sensation," and "Never Tear Us Apart." They won multiple awards throughout their career, including several MTV Video Music Awards and Brit Awards. Tragically, Michael Hutchence passed away in 1997, marking the end of an era for the band. Despite this loss, INXS continued to perform with different lead singers until officially disbanding in 2012. Their music continues to be celebrated and remembered by fans around the world.
