Rubén Blades is a highly acclaimed Panamanian singer, songwriter, actor, and politician who is considered one of the most influential figures in Latin music. Blades rose to fame in the 1970s as the lead singer of the salsa band Editus, which he co-founded. In addition to his music career, Blades is also a talented actor, having appeared in several films including "The Milagro Beanfield War" and "Once Upon a Time in Mexico." He is a multiple Grammy Award winner and has received widespread acclaim for his contributions to Latin music and culture. Blades is also known for his involvement in politics, having served as Panama's Minister of Tourism and running for president in 1994.
