Artist Biography
Elastica was a British alternative rock band formed in London in 1992. The band's lineup consisted of lead vocalist and guitarist Justine Frischmann, guitarist Donna Matthews, bassist Annie Holland, and drummer Justin Welch. Elastica rose to prominence during the Britpop era of the mid-1990s with their catchy, punk-influenced sound and energetic live performances. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1995, was a critical and commercial success, reaching the top of the UK Albums Chart and spawning hit singles like "Connection" and "Stutter." Elastica's music was known for its tight, angular guitar riffs, driving rhythms, and Frischmann's deadpan vocals.
