Description

Experience the timeless voice of the Rankins in the iconic album, Uprooted. Released in 1998, this original EMI Music Canada release blends Folk, World, & Country music, featuring timeless performances that are a must-have for any music lover and collector.

The Rankins were a Canadian musical group comprising siblings from Mabou, Nova Scotia. The group blended Celtic folk music with elements of rock, pop, and country, creating a unique sound that resonated with audiences worldwide. The Rankins rose to fame in the 1990s with their harmonious vocals, energetic performances, and heartfelt songwriting. Their music often reflected their Gaelic heritage and the rich musical traditions of Cape Breton Island. Throughout their career, The Rankins released several successful albums, toured extensively, and won numerous awards, including Juno Awards and East Coast Music Awards. Their hit songs such as "Fare Thee Well Love" and "North Country" became anthems for fans of Celtic music. Tragically, the group disbanded in 1999 following the untimely death of one of the siblings, John Morris Rankin, in a car accident. Despite this loss, The Rankins' music continues to be celebrated for its beauty, passion, and cultural significance in the Canadian music landscape.
