Artist Biography

Ben Folds Five was an alternative rock trio formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1993. The band consisted of lead vocalist and pianist Ben Folds, bassist Robert Sledge, and drummer Darren Jessee. Known for their unique blend of piano-driven rock music, witty lyrics, and energetic live performances, Ben Folds Five quickly gained a loyal following in the 1990s. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1995, which featured the hit single "Brick" and received critical acclaim for its clever songwriting and musicianship. They followed up with albums such as "Whatever and Ever Amen" in 1997 and "The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner" in 1999, solidifying their reputation as one of the most innovative and talented acts of the era. Despite disbanding in 2000, Ben Folds Five left a lasting impact on the music industry and continues to be celebrated for their influential contributions to the alternative rock genre.
