Dan Gibson was a Canadian naturalist, photographer, and sound recordist who is best known for founding the Solitudes series of albums featuring sounds of nature combined with music. Born in 1934 in the town of Nelspruit, Bekker began his musical career as a member of the popular South African band, The Bats. He has released numerous solo albums and collaborated with artists such as Dan Gibson on the Solitudes series.
