Artist Biography
Perry Como was an American singer and television personality who became one of the most popular and successful entertainers of the 20th century. Born on May 18, 1912, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Como began his music career as a barber before finding success as a vocalist on the radio. He signed with RCA Victor in the early 1940s and went on to release numerous hit songs, including "Till the End of Time," "Catch a Falling Star," and "Magic Moments." Como's smooth and relaxed singing style endeared him to audiences worldwide, earning him the nickname "Mr. Relaxation." He also became a television star with his own variety show, "The Perry Como Show," which ran from 1948 to 1963 and then from 1963 to 1966. Como won numerous awards throughout his career, including multiple Grammy Awards and a Kennedy Center Honor. Perry Como passed away on May 12, 2001, leaving behind a legacy of timeless music that continues to be cherished by fans around the world.
