Cole Porter (1891-1964) was an American composer and songwriter known for his sophisticated and witty musicals and songs. Born in Peru, Indiana, Porter showed musical talent from a young age and went on to study at Yale University and Harvard Law School. However, his true passion was music, and he eventually found success on Broadway and in Hollywood. Porter's music is characterized by its clever lyrics, catchy melodies, and elegant harmonies. He wrote many popular songs, including "I've Got You Under My Skin," "Night and Day," and "I Get a Kick Out of You." Some of his most famous musicals include "Anything Goes," "Kiss Me, Kate," and "Can-Can." Despite a serious horse riding accident in 1937 that left him in chronic pain, Porter continued to write music and achieve success in the entertainment industry.
