Artist Biography

The Poppy Family was a Canadian pop music group formed in 1968 by Terry Jacks and his then-wife Susan Jacks. The group is best known for their hit single "Which Way You Goin' Billy?" released in 1969, which reached number 1 on the Canadian charts and number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. The Poppy Family's sound was characterized by Susan Jacks' ethereal vocals combined with Terry Jacks' songwriting and production skills. After achieving success with "Which Way You Goin' Billy?", the group released several more albums before disbanding in the early 1970s. Terry Jacks went on to have a successful solo career, including his hit song "Seasons in the Sun". The Poppy Family's music continues to be remembered and celebrated for its unique blend of folk, pop, and psychedelic influences.
