Bread was an American soft rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1968. The band's original lineup consisted of David Gates (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Jimmy Griffin (vocals, guitar), Robb Royer (bass, vocals), and Mike Botts (drums). Bread achieved mainstream success in the early 1970s with their melodic, easy-listening sound and heartfelt lyrics. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1969, included the hit single "Make It with You," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This success was followed by a string of popular albums and singles, including "Baby I'm-A Want You," "Everything I Own," and "If."
