Artist Biography
Powder Blues is a Canadian blues band that was formed in 1978 in Vancouver, British Columbia. The band was founded by brothers Tom Lavin (guitar and vocals) and Jack Lavin (bass), along with Willie MacCalder (keyboards) and Duris Maxwell (drums). Powder Blues quickly gained popularity in the Canadian music scene with their energetic live performances and their unique blend of blues, rock, and R&B. In 1980, Powder Blues released their self-titled debut album, which featured the hit single "Doin' It Right." The success of the album helped the band win the Juno Award for Most Promising Group of the Year. Throughout the 1980s, Powder Blues continued to release successful albums and tour extensively, solidifying their reputation as one of Canada's premier blues bands. Over the years, Powder Blues has undergone some lineup changes, but Tom Lavin has remained a constant driving force behind the band. With their soulful vocals, tight musicianship, and infectious grooves, Powder Blues continues to captivate audiences with their timeless blues sound.
