Artist Biography
The Stooges were an American rock band formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1967. The band's original lineup consisted of vocalist Iggy Pop, guitarist Ron Asheton, drummer Scott Asheton, and bassist Dave Alexander. Known for their raw and energetic sound, The Stooges were pioneers of punk rock and are considered one of the most influential bands in the genre's history. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1969, which featured iconic tracks like "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "1969". Despite receiving little commercial success at the time, The Stooges' music would go on to inspire countless future punk and alternative rock bands. After facing internal struggles and drug-related issues, The Stooges disbanded in 1974. However, they reunited in 2003 and released a new album, "The Weirdness", in 2007. The band continued to tour and perform live shows until their final breakup in 2016. The Stooges' legacy lives on as one of the most groundbreaking and influential bands in the history of rock music.
