Frank Yankovic, known as "America's Polka King," was a Grammy Award-winning musician and accordion player. He was born on July 28, 1915, in Davis, West Virginia, to Slovene immigrant parents. Yankovic popularized polka music in the United States and became one of the genre's most influential artists. Throughout his career, Yankovic recorded over 200 albums and singles, earning him a dedicated following of fans. His hits included songs like "Just Because" and "Blue Skirt Waltz," which helped him achieve mainstream success in the music industry. Yankovic's contributions to polka music were recognized with a Grammy Award for Best Polka Recording in 1986. He continued to perform and record music until his passing on October 14, 1998, leaving behind a lasting legacy as a pioneer of polka music in America.
