Artist Biography
Harry Chapin (1942-1981) was an American singer-songwriter known for his storytelling songs and heartfelt lyrics. Born in New York, Chapin began his musical career in the 1970s, releasing a series of successful albums including "Heads & Tales" and "Verities & Balderdash." He is perhaps best known for his hit song "Cat's in the Cradle," a poignant ballad about a father-son relationship. Apart from his music, Chapin was also a dedicated humanitarian, co-founding the organization World Hunger Year to raise awareness about hunger and poverty. He was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his charitable work. Tragically, Harry Chapin's life was cut short when he died in a car accident in 1981 at the age of 38. Despite his untimely death, Chapin's music continues to resonate with audiences around the world, and he is remembered as a talented musician and compassionate advocate for social causes.
