Barbara Mandrell, born on December 25, 1948, in Houston, Texas, is a country music singer, musician, and actress. She began her musical career at a young age, learning to play the accordion, steel guitar, and saxophone. Mandrell signed her first record deal at the age of 13 and released her debut single "Queen for a Day" in 1969. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Barbara Mandrell achieved great success in country music, scoring numerous hits such as "Sleeping Single in a Double Bed," "(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right," and "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool." She became the first artist to win the Country Music Association's "Entertainer of the Year" award twice in a row (1980 and 1981). In addition to her music career, Mandrell also found success as a television personality, hosting her own variety show, "Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters," which aired from 1980 to 1982. Barbara Mandrell's contributions to country music have earned her a place in the Country Music Hall of Fame.
