Donald Fagen is an American musician, singer, and songwriter best known as one half of the iconic rock band Steely Dan. Born on January 10, 1948, in Passaic, New Jersey, Fagen showed an early aptitude for music and studied jazz piano while growing up. He met his future Steely Dan partner, Walter Becker, while attending Bard College in the late 1960s. Fagen and Becker formed Steely Dan in 1972, and the band quickly gained critical acclaim for their sophisticated jazz-influenced rock sound and complex, cryptic lyrics. Fagen served as the lead vocalist and keyboardist for the band, contributing his distinctive voice and musical talents to hits like "Do It Again," "Reelin' in the Years," and "Rikki Don't Lose That Number."
