Artist Biography
The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969. The group was founded by brothers Duane Allman (guitar) and Gregg Allman (vocals, keyboards), along with Dickey Betts (guitar), Berry Oakley (bass), Butch Trucks (drums), and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson (drums). Known for their unique blend of blues, rock, and jazz, the band quickly gained a loyal following with their electrifying live performances and improvisational jams. The Allman Brothers Band achieved mainstream success with their breakthrough album "At Fillmore East" in 1971, which is widely regarded as one of the greatest live albums in rock history. Tragically, the band was struck by the deaths of Duane Allman in a motorcycle accident in 1971 and Berry Oakley in another motorcycle accident in 1972. Despite these losses, The Allman Brothers Band continued to make music and tour, becoming one of the most influential and enduring bands in rock history.
