Artist Biography
The Gandharvas were a Canadian alternative rock band formed in London, Ontario in 1988. The band's original lineup consisted of Paul Jago (vocals, guitar), Jud Ruhl (guitar), Tim McDonald (bass), and Ed Zankowski (drums). Known for their unique blend of alternative rock, psychedelic, and pop influences, The Gandharvas quickly gained a following in the Canadian music scene. In 1994, The Gandharvas released their debut album "A Soap Bubble and Inertia," which featured the hit single "The First Day of Spring." The song received significant airplay on Canadian radio and helped propel the band to national success. Their follow-up album, "Kicking in the Water," was released in 1995 and further solidified their reputation as a dynamic and innovative band. Throughout the 1990s, The Gandharvas toured extensively and shared the stage with prominent acts such as The Tragically Hip and Our Lady Peace. Despite undergoing lineup changes over the years, The Gandharvas continued to release music and perform live shows until their eventual disbandment in the early 2000s.
