About The Bad Plus
The Bad Plus is an innovative jazz trio formed in 2000 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group consists of pianist Ethan Iverson, bassist Reid Anderson, and drummer David King. Known for their unique blend of jazz, rock, and avant-garde influences, The Bad Plus gained recognition for their genre-defying approach and inventive arrangements, often incorporating pop and rock songs into their repertoire alongside original compositions. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2001, establishing their presence in the jazz scene. They became particularly noted for their covers of songs by artists such as Nirvana and Radiohead, which showcased their ability to reinterpret contemporary music through a jazz lens. Over the years, The Bad Plus has released numerous albums, including "Give," "Suspicious Activity?" and "Never Stop II," receiving critical acclaim and a dedicated following. In 2017, the trio underwent a significant change when Ethan Iverson left the band, and they continued to evolve with new member Orrin Evans. The Bad Plus remains a vital force in modern jazz, known for their adventurous spirit and commitment to pushing musical boundaries.
