Artist Biography
The Allman Brothers Band was an American rock band formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969 by brothers Duane Allman and Gregg Allman, along with Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks, and Jai Johanny "Jaimoe" Johanson. They are known for their unique blend of southern rock, blues, and jazz, and are considered pioneers of the jam band genre. The band achieved critical and commercial success with their live performances and iconic albums such as "At Fillmore East" and "Eat a Peach." Tragically, Duane Allman died in a motorcycle accident in 1971, followed by Berry Oakley's death in a similar accident a year later. Despite these losses, the band continued to make music and tour, becoming one of the most influential rock bands of the 1970s. The Allman Brothers Band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. Their enduring legacy continues to influence generations of musicians and fans worldwide.
