Joseph Haydn, known as the "Father of the Symphony" and "Father of the String Quartet," was a prominent Austrian composer of the Classical era. Born in 1732 in Rohrau, Austria, Haydn showed musical talent at a young age and began his career as a choirboy at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna. He later worked as a freelance musician before securing a position as Kapellmeister for the Esterházy noble family, where he remained for nearly 30 years. His compositions are known for their innovation, wit, and emotional depth, influencing generations of composers to come. Haydn's works helped shape the development of classical music, bridging the gap between the Baroque and Classical periods. Throughout his life, Haydn enjoyed widespread acclaim and patronage, earning him a reputation as one of the greatest composers of his time.
