Artist Biography

Harry Chapin (1942-1981) was an American singer-songwriter known for his storytelling songs and philanthropic efforts. Born in New York, Chapin began his musical career in the 1970s and quickly gained recognition for his heartfelt lyrics and engaging performances. He released several successful albums, including "Heads & Tales" and "Verities & Balderdash," which featured his most famous song, "Cat's in the Cradle." In addition to his music, Chapin was deeply committed to social causes, particularly the issue of world hunger. He co-founded the organization World Hunger Year and was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his humanitarian work. Tragically, Chapin's life was cut short in a car accident in 1981, but his legacy lives on through his music and charitable contributions.
