Franco Corelli was an Italian tenor born on April 8, 1921, in Ancona, Italy. He rose to fame in the 1950s and 1960s as one of the most prominent dramatic tenors of his time. He made his debut in 1951 at the Spoleto Festival and went on to perform at major opera houses around the world, including La Scala in Milan, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and the Royal Opera House in London. Corelli was particularly known for his interpretations of roles in Italian operas by composers such as Verdi, Puccini, and Donizetti. Throughout his career, Corelli received critical acclaim for his vocal prowess and stage presence. He retired from the stage in 1976 but continued to be involved in the opera world through teaching and masterclasses. Franco Corelli passed away on October 29, 2003, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest tenors of the 20th century.
