Ben Folds Five was an American alternative rock band formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The trio consisted of Ben Folds on vocals and piano, Robert Sledge on bass, and Darren Jessee on drums. Known for their energetic and piano-driven sound, Ben Folds Five gained popularity in the 1990s with their unique blend of rock, pop, and jazz influences. The band released their self-titled debut album in 1995, which included the hit single "Brick," a poignant song dealing with the sensitive subject of abortion.
