Gene Autry, born Orvon Grover Autry on September 29, 1907, in Tioga, Texas, was an American singer, actor, and businessman who became one of the most iconic figures in country music and Western entertainment. Known as "The Singing Cowboy," Autry gained fame in the 1930s and 1940s for his smooth voice and charming on-screen persona. Autry's career spanned over four decades, during which he recorded hundreds of songs, including hits like "Back in the Saddle Again" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer." He also starred in dozens of Western films and television shows, becoming a beloved figure in American popular culture. In addition to his music and acting career, Autry was a successful businessman, owning radio stations, television stations, and the California Angels baseball team. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, cementing his legacy as a pioneer in country music and Western entertainment. Autry passed away on October 2, 1998, leaving behind a lasting impact on the music and film industries.
