John Denver, born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. on December 31, 1943, in Roswell, New Mexico, was an American singer-songwriter, actor, and environmental activist. Denver's career took off with the release of his hit song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" in 1971, which became his signature song. He went on to release numerous chart-topping albums and singles, including "Annie's Song," "Sunshine on My Shoulders," and "Rocky Mountain High." Apart from his musical success, Denver was also a passionate advocate for environmental causes. He co-founded the charitable organization "The Windstar Foundation" to promote sustainable living and environmental awareness. Tragically, John Denver passed away in a plane crash on October 12, 1997, at the age of 53.
