Artist Biography
The Breeders are an American alternative rock band formed in 1989 by Kim Deal, the bassist and co-vocalist of the influential band Pixies. Kim's twin sister, Kelley Deal, joined the band on guitar, along with Tanya Donelly on guitar and vocals, and Josephine Wiggs on bass. The band released their debut album, "Pod," in 1990 to critical acclaim for its raw and melodic sound. In 1993, The Breeders achieved mainstream success with their second album, "Last Splash," which featured the hit single "Cannonball." The album received widespread praise for its catchy hooks and Kim Deal's distinctive vocals. Despite lineup changes over the years, The Breeders have continued to release music and tour, with Kim and Kelley Deal remaining as the core members. Known for their blend of punk, pop, and alternative rock influences, The Breeders have left a lasting impact on the music industry and have influenced many bands that followed in their footsteps. Their unique sound and energetic live performances have solidified their status as one of the most important bands in alternative rock history.
