Gene Autry, born Orvon Grover Autry on September 29, 1907, was an American singer, songwriter, actor, and rodeo performer. Known as "The Singing Cowboy," Autry gained fame in the 1930s and 1940s for his musical talents and starring roles in Western films. Autry's career as a recording artist was highly successful, with hits like "Back in the Saddle Again," "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," and "Don't Fence Me In." He was the first artist to sell more than a million copies of a country music record with his song "That Silver-Haired Daddy of Mine." In addition to his music career, Autry appeared in nearly 100 films, becoming one of the top Western stars of his time. He also had a successful television show, "The Gene Autry Show," which further solidified his status as a beloved entertainer. Gene Autry was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, leaving behind a lasting legacy in both the music and film industries. He passed away on October 2, 1998, but his contributions to entertainment continue to be celebrated
