PJ Harvey - Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea CD front cover

Every CD on our shelves has a story, and Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea by PJ Harvey has more than most. As Wikipedia puts it, “Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea is the fifth studio album by the English singer-songwriter PJ Harvey, released on 23 October 2000 by Island Records. Recorded during March to April 2000, it contains themes of love that are tied into Harvey's affection for New York City.”

Wikipedia’s article on it talks about “Good Fortune”, “A Place Called Home” and “One Line”, and all of them are right here on this CD. One of those songs has its own back story. In Wikipedia’s words, “The album featured a duet with Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke on the track 'This Mess We're In', as well as backing vocals and keyboards from Yorke on the songs 'One Line' and 'Beautiful Feeling'.” Press play and “Big Exit” starts things off; by the time “We Float” closes the set you have heard 12 tracks. Rock records of that time were built to be played loud and heard as a whole album.

Start with “Good Fortune” and let the rest of the album unfold from there. Our copy is in Near Mint (NM or M-) condition and is priced at $2.99. Tap the button below to see the photos and order it.
