Tom Scott (born May 19, 1948, in Los Angeles, California, USA) is a highly accomplished American saxophonist, composer, arranger, conductor, and bandleader, known for his contributions to jazz, fusion, and popular music. He is the son of composer Nathan Scott.

Tom Scott gained widespread recognition as the leader of the West Coast jazz fusion ensemble L.A. Express and for his distinctive theme tune for the 1970s television series Starsky and Hutch. With a career spanning several decades, Scott has released 26 solo recordings and earned three Grammy Awards.

In addition to his solo work, Scott has an extensive resume as a session musician, contributing to albums by iconic artists such as Pink Floyd (The Wall), Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, Joni Mitchell (Court and Spark), George Harrison, Steely Dan (Aja), Quincy Jones, and Frank Sinatra. His versatility across genres has made him a sought-after collaborator.

Scott is also an original member of The Blues Brothers Band, further cementing his legacy in music history. Not only known for his work on the saxophone, Scott is proficient with instruments like the Lyricon (an electronic wind instrument) and the flute. His influence spans jazz, pop, rock, and film/television scoring, where his compositions have left an enduring mark on both industries.
