Every CD on our shelves has a story, and #1's by Mariah Carey has more than most. As Wikipedia puts it, “#1's is the first compilation album by American singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, released by Columbia Records on November 17, 1998. The album contained Carey's then thirteen number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100, as well as four new songs.”

Wikipedia’s article on it talks about “Sweetheart”, “When You Believe” and “One Sweet Day”, and all of them are right here on this CD. One of those songs has its own back story. In Wikipedia’s words, “The first of Carey's number ones to be featured on the album was 'Vision of Love'.” Press play and “Sweetheart” starts things off; by the time “I Still Believe” closes the set you have heard 17 tracks. Ballads put the voice and the lyric in the spotlight.

Start with “Sweetheart” and let the rest of the album unfold from there. This copy is graded Near Mint (NM or M-) and costs $2.99. Tap the button below to see the photos and order it.
