Creed is an American rock band formed in 1994 in Tallahassee, Florida. The group consists of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Known for their post-grunge sound, Creed rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s with a series of successful albums. Their debut album, "My Own Prison," released in 1997, achieved multi-platinum status and included hits like "My Own Prison," "Torn," and "What's This Life For." The band's follow-up albums, "Human Clay" (1999) and "Weathered" (2001), solidified their place in rock music, featuring chart-topping singles such as "Higher" and "One Last Breath." Creed's music is characterized by Stapp's baritone voice and introspective lyrics, often exploring themes of faith and personal struggle. Despite internal tensions and Stapp's struggles with substance abuse, the band enjoyed significant commercial success, selling over 28 million albums in the United States alone. After disbanding in 2004, the members pursued other projects, with Tremonti and Marshall forming the band Alter Bridge. Creed reunited in 2009 and released their fourth studio album, "Full Circle," before going on hiatus again.
